Patrick Shields: Writer, Cameraman, Producer
I have always been fascinated with video, because it communicates so much more than plain text. My experiences producing a season of my high school’s annoucements, filming my own award-winning packages and working as a freelance video editor have taught me how to direct an entire production, from the broad strokes to the fine details. I have experience in virtually every aspect of the video production process.
Work Samples: Full Package Production
- School Cafeteria: During my sophomore year of high school, I produced this package entirely by myself and won first place in the Kansas Scholastic Press Association’s state competition.
- Nurse’s Office: In my junior year, I produced this package; once again, I produced it entirely by myself and won first place in the KSPA state competition.
- Sport Showers: This is a piece I created for my school’s television announcements, about how students don’t shower anymore at sport practices.
- Jaguar Challenge: Though I was sick when I filmed this package, it highlights my editing skills, ability to direct a group, and production graphic design skills. This package features a competition I held amongst the grade levels at my high school.
- Robotics Team: This was my first broadcast package to air on our school’s television show. It follows standard journalistic practices.
